Your clothes and accessories do not need to be washed at too high a temperature. Preferably, wash your clothes at 30°C to reduce your energy consumption and limit the risks of discoloration or shrinking of the textile.

Reduce the use of your dryer. Even if your appliance is class A, it uses a lot of energy. Machine drying can also shrink and wear out some fabrics.

Dry cleaning is harmful to your health as well as to the planet's because of its use of often dangerous chemicals. Favour an ecological dry cleaner.

Clean the stains from your stuff when you can, before you do your machine wash cycle. You can use Marseille soap or baking soda.

All your stuff doesn't need to be ironed. Fabrics such as linen, wool and some cotton fabrics will naturally wrinkle during their drying cycle. Reducing the use of your iron will reduce your energy consumption.

Once your laundry is washed, make sure it is dry before putting it away. Some clothes or accessories need to be hung up while others need to be folded. To keep your belongings longer, consider putting lavender in your closets to keep textile moths at bay.

Take the time to sort through your closet once or twice a year. According to Fashion Revolution, we only wear 30% of the items we buy. Putting your things in order allows you to know what you really need on a daily basis.

A worn or damaged product does not mean that it can no longer be used or worn. Many companies like Les Réparables or Repaire Café offer repair services (some of them free of charge). You can also find advice on the internet or in books on how to repair your stuff yourself.

Give a second life to your clothes and accessories that you no longer wear. If they are still in good condition, you can sell them via specialized websites or offer them to charity associations to help the most needy.

Every day around the world, 224 600 tons of textile waste is destroyed, according to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. Don't let your damaged clothes become waste. Recycle and reuse them by dropping them off at used textile collection points.
